With the forthcoming legislative elections drawing near, a total of 649 candidates have registered across a range of twelve lists. The lists have been submitted, and the electoral contest can officially kick off in the coming days.

Statistics pertaining to the candidates participating in these elections provide a comprehensive view of their demographics and backgrounds. Notably, the average age of candidates stands at 46 years.

The three youngest candidates are all aged 18: Lucy Agostini, representing the Pirate Party in the centre, Pierre Turquin from the Left Party (déi Lénk), running in the centre, and Komal Morandini of FOKUS, running in the east of the country.

Conversely, Venanzo Bartocci, aged 84, stands as the oldest candidate and is running for the Luxembourg Communist Party (KPL) in the central region.

Gender distribution among candidates presents a notable divide, with 57% being male and 43% female.

The Green Party (déi Gréng) and the Left Party both have an exact 50:50 distribution of male and female candidates. In contrast, the KPL lags behind with only 37% female representation. In addition, the Communist Party records the highest average candidate age of 56, while VOLT’s candidates, with an average age of 35, emerge as the youngest.

With seven candidates, FOKUS boasts the most people in the 18-24 age group.

Nine parties are entering the race with full lists in the four constituencies: This includes all of the parties currently represented in the Chamber of Deputies as well as FOKUS.

The KPL has full lists in the south, centre, and east. The Conservatives (déi Konservativ) have full lists in the south and north. VOLT, meanwhile, has a full list of candidates in the south and a partially filled list in the east, featuring only three candidates.
