Several houses were searched in Käerjeng as part of the criminal investigation into the discovery of a bomb. For security reasons, the special police unit was also deployed to the area.
Weapons and illegal explosives were found in the house of a young man. A homemade bomb also had to be neutralised in a controlled manner by the bomb disposal service.
According to the initial investigation, the person had only a ‘limited’ criminal record and was not arrested or remanded in custody.
Another intervention had already taken place at the same address in January. Two months ago, it was a potential suicide attempt. The Public Prosecutor’s Office also specifies that the alleged ‘bomb-maker’ was not involved in this past intervention.
Finally, the judicial authorities wish to reassure that no terrorist motive was found and that the alleged perpetrator was not known to the justice system.
