Minister of Internal Security François Bausch officially presented the text to MPs of the competent parliamentary commission. The Pirate Party had asked the minister to re-present the new code. MP Marc Goergen explained that his party opposed the decision to present the new code to the press before presenting it to MPs at the Chamber of Deputies. Regarding the new code itself, Goergen said it was "certainly an enrichment for every police officer on duty."

He added that the party had also raised the question of whether or not it would be possible for police staff to report anything suspicious "in a secure and anonymous way." He explained that "it was confirmed that this would be possible, so we're satisfied."

The code of ethics will not serve as a basis for taking disciplinary steps against a police officer. Each article was nevertheless strengthened by corresponding laws, Bausch stressed. The code's primary goal is to provide guidelines for police officers.
