A400MNew Luxembourg military aircraft landed at Findel

RTL Today
It was a small event: the A400, Luxembourg's new military airplane, landed at Findel airport on Wednesday evening, coming from Spain.

Awaiting the aircraft were the Minister of Defence, François Bausch, and the new Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, Steve Thull.

The transfer of title was signed in mid-August, but the plane had remained in Sevilla until now to undergo tests.

The plane is performing a fly-over this Friday, where it will enter Luxembourg and Belgium aerospace at low altitude.

It is set to take off at 9am from Findel airport, then performing its "welcome flight" over Luxembourg City, Arlon, Esch-sur-Alzette, the Moselle, Diekirch, Clervaux and continuing towards Belgium before landing at the airbase in Melsbroek, where it will be stationed.

The aircraft's predecessor, a C-130 Hercules, will accompany the new machine, weather permitting.

The A400 will be jointly managed by the  Luxembourg and Belgian armies.
