Luxembourg CityMugging victims fight back despite armed attackers

RTL Today
Two people were mugged by knife-wielding attackers in Luxembourg City on Saturday night, while elsewhere police reported break-ins and car accidents across the country.

A pair of muggers targeted two people at the Luxembourg City Gare tram station at around 9pm on Saturday, grabbing the victims’ mobile phones from their hands. When the victims retaliated, the attackers used knives to threaten them. Despite the weapons, a scuffle ensued in which the victims managed to retrieve their phones, although the muggers fled with a stolen wallet, dropping one of the knives in the process. Police confiscated the knife as evidence. The victims are said to have emerged unharmed from the incident.

The police have released a description of the two armed individuals, who are both described as being male, around 30 years of age and with dark complexions. The first wore a red top and dark trousers, the second wore dark clothing.

Break-ins and traffic incidents
At around 4am on Sunday morning, two intruders broke into a café on Place St. Pierre et Paul in the capital, smashing a window and damaging a door in the process. The pair searched the premises but did not seem to steal anything, fleeing through the back door. Police also reported break-ins at residential properties in Soleuvre, two incidents in Sanem, and a further two break-ins in Luxembourg City.

One person was injured in a crash in Oberpallen shortly before 8pm on Saturday, after a motorist lost control of their vehicle and struck a tree at the side of the road. The emergency services had to free a woman from the wreckage of the car. She was taken to hospital for further treatment.

Finally, four drivers had their licences taken away due to intoxicated driving on Saturday, after they were stopped by police patrols in Christnach, Kirchberg, Moersdorf and the capital.
