The 25-year-old man drove in the wrong direction and struck another vehicle, killing a 42-year-old driver. The suspect, seriously injured in the crash, was taken to hospital, where he was later questioned and charged by the examining magistrate on Wednesday.

Once his condition allows, the man will be transferred to the Sanem Penitentiary Centre (CPU), authorities added.

The public prosecutor’s office has requested a judicial investigation be opened on suspicion of manslaughter, and reiterates the principle of presumed innocence.
