The video was shared on a Facebook group called "Police Kontrol Luxembourg," and shows a motorist going at full speed against traffic on the A7.
The car is heading toward Ettelbruck, and is driving fast enough that other cars are forced to pull to the side to avoid a collision. The video ends as the driver nears a lorry, and the end of the motorway - where there is only one lane.
RTL contacted police about the matter, who said that the "ghost driver" had been reported on the motorway at around 10am on Friday 4 October. Officers were dispatched to the scene and were able to intercept the driver, who was removed from the motorway.
Luckily, they did not cause any accidents despite the long drive down the wrong side of the road.
Should you encounter a driver going the wrong direction down the motorway, the police recommend that you remain in the right-hand lane and pull over further if possible and required, thus allowing them to pass you. You should then notify the police as soon as possible, pulling over at a service area or other suitable location first as required by the situation.
If you inadvertedly end up driving against the flow of traffic yourself, turn on your hazard lights and stay to your right. Do not speed up to get to the next exit faster, but do contact the police if you can. If the lane on your left is entirely clear of traffic, and only if this is the case, you may pull over and stop in the emergency lane.
