Not for the first time, and certainly not the last - Luxembourg City police reported a sleeping motorist at the crossroads between Avenue Charles de Gaulle and Boulevard d’Avranche in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Officers approached the vehicle, which was stationary at a green traffic light, at around 6.30am, where they found the driver asleep at the wheel.

The driver promptly awoke and was submitted to a breathalyser test, which returned a positive result. He was then made to hand over his licence and will eventually appear in court.

A field siesta

Around an hour before this incident, another police patrol came across a car parked in a field at the side of the road. When officers approached the vehicle, they realised the driver inside was asleep.

Upon waking, the driver attempted to drive off after spotting the police, but was blocked by the police vehicle. The driver eventually relented and performed a breathalyser test with positive results. Officers promptly confiscated his licence.
