Planning familial released their annual report for the year 2019 on Tuesday, summarising the activities of their three centres in Luxembourg City, Esch, and Ettelbruck.

More than 33,500 requests were treated and around 3,200 people received personal meetings. Medical, psychological, and sexual consultations have experienced a 12 percent increase over the course of the year.

The most shocking numbers are the ones on sexual abuse, conveying that more than half of the victims were below the age of 10. 98,9 percent of the cases involved minors. An appeal is therefore being made to increase prison penalties for incidents of the kind, the current maximum being set at ten years.

The report further alludes to the additional difficulties that the centres experienced due to the pandemic.

All three institutions have remained open throughout the crisis.
