Pirate Party MP Sven Clement went all-in on coffee machines in a recent parliamentary question, asking how many coffee machines government agencies and ministries have. Specifically, Clement asked about the type of coffee machines, alluding to a question of sustainability. He asked whether the government is phasing out capsule coffee machines, which use non-recyclable plastic capsules and are known for not being eco-friendly.
The MP also asked whether the ministries use coffee beans, powder, or purchase pre-made coffees. Whilst Clement may have asked about every small detail, Bettel's response was not quite as detailed. He highlighted that the state does not hold an inventory on coffee machines, nor does it count how many machines are brought in by staff members. However, Bettel did stress that the government is promoting a sustainable approach and ministries are generally avoiding capsule coffee machines.
