The group presented eight pressing issues requiring politicians’ attention. One central concern is that internet and social media platforms, as well as public and private media, should face stricter regulation during electoral campaigns.

For Alia president Thierry Hoscheit, it is inconceivable that the internet is completely outside of the country’s media regulation.

“On the internet you find all kinds of problematic content like hate speech that could affect children negatively. We think the entire internet should be regulated,” he said.

The authority also demands coordinated classes that would teach citizens about dangers online, a legal framework for online games and more financial resources so that Alia can do its work more thoroughly and more effectively.
