Aestheticians and opticiansMasking the daily grind to protect clients and staff alike

As phase 2 out of the lockdown has begun, the country's beauty salons have been permitted to once again open their doors to the public.

Even though hygiene has always played a vital role in this sector, aestheticians have been challenged to create even tighter measures that would assure a maximum level of safety for staff and clients alike.

Beauty salons had to close for two months because of the corona pandemic. Although many aestheticians believed that the forced closure was justified due to the lack of information on the novel virus, the workers now seem happy to return to their daily occupations. From Monday on, salons were allowed to welcome their clients anew, but under stronger safety regulations.

Clients do not appear to be overly anxious about being infected with Covid-19 inside the institutions. An entire row of sanitary precautions has been introduced to minimise the risk of infection. The exact parameters of these hygienic measures vary according to the size of the salon and the number of people working in different rooms. The wearing of facial masks has become mandatory in every single institute for both clients and aestheticians.

Similarly, many opticians have started employing facial visors to enable closer contact with clients, which is often indispensable in this sector. Other scenarios require the use of gloves or even the installation of protective barriers, as well as the regular disinfection of all surfaces.
