Hirsch died on Monday 24 July at the age of 74, according to a post shared by his wife on social media.
A keen journalist with an interest in politics, Hirsch served as editor-in-chief of weekly newspaper “Lëtzebuerger Land” from 1998 to 2006, before taking over as director of the Pierre Werner Institute, a role he held until 2011.
