Significant road works on the A1 motorway are set to begin on Friday night at 10pm, with closures, diversions, and expected delays through the weekend until Monday morning.
The Public Works Department has announced road surface renewal works on the A1 motorway between the Kirchberg interchange and the Croix de Gasperich. The work will begin on Friday, 25 April 2025, at 10pm and is expected to be completed by Monday, 28 April 2025, at around 5am.
Roadblocks and diversions
During this time, several roadblocks and diversions will be in place:
- The A1 motorway towards Croix de Gasperich will be closed between the Kirchberg interchange and the Croix de Gasperich.
- Access to the Hamm interchange towards the A1 will be blocked.
- The A3 slip road towards Metz and the A1 towards Trier will be closed.
- The slip lanes from the A1 at the Croix de Gasperich coming from Trier towards the A3 will be closed in both directions.
Traffic adjustments
- Traffic on the A1 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the Kirchberg interchange and the Croix de Gasperich, with a speed limit of 70 km/h on the open sections and 50 km/h in tunnels.
- Traffic coming from the Hamm interchange towards the Croix de Gasperich will be diverted via the N2, B3, and A3.
- Traffic from the Hamm interchange heading towards Trier will be diverted via the N1 and the Senningerberg interchange.
- Traffic from the A3 towards Metz, heading towards Trier, will be diverted via the A3 towards Metz, the Livange interchange, and the A3 towards Luxembourg, then onto the Croix de Gasperich.
- Traffic coming from the A1 in both directions towards the Croix de Gasperich and the A3 towards Metz will be diverted via the Croix de Gasperich, the A6 towards Belgium, the Cessange crossroads, the A4 towards Esch-sur-Alzette, the Esch junction, the A13 towards Schengen, and the Bettembourg crossroads.
- Traffic coming from the A1 in both directions towards the Croix de Gasperich and the A3 towards Luxembourg will be diverted via the Croix de Gasperich, the A6 towards Belgium, the Cessange crossroads, and the A4 towards Luxembourg.
