Firefighters are still currently at the scene, along with representatives of Luxembourg’s water management administration and other environmental officials from SIDERO.
The Millebaach, Näerderbaach, and Pall rivers are affected by the pollution. According to Minister for the Environment Joëlle Welfring, it is estimated that 1,000 m3 of manure was spilled. It should be noted that this figure still needs to be confirmed.
The Minister notes that while there have been larger spills in the past, this latest incident stands out due to the unusually large amount of liquid that flowed into rivers.
Local farmers are assisting in pumping manure from rivers and spreading it on surrounding fields. A special machine is also used to ventilate the water.
According to the first reports, a technical incident related to a pipe is believed to be the source of the accidental spill.
It was reported earlier that after the pollution had spread to the Pall, the authorities feared that it would in turn contaminate the Attert. This does not appear to be the case for the time being, but SIDERO has preventatively installed ventilation machines in the Attert as well.

RTL noted that relief workers were installing a dam in the Niederpallen sector, several kilometers upstream from Beckerich.
The firefighters were alerted around 8 a.m. Saturday morning, as confirmed by our reporter on site. The incident may have happened long before.
This is a breaking news story.
