While this trade fair is devoted exclusively to the health sector in Luxembourg and the Greater Region, it’s unlikely you’ll come across any white coats or scrubs.
Among the many stands set up in the aisles of the convention centre are those of the National Health Fund (CNS), patient associations, and companies working with hospitals. According to Health Minister Paulette Lenert, the aim of the event is to bring together the best and brightest in the health sector and to connect them to various partners.
“It’s about bringing together people who are thinking about the future. We need to find inspiration and partners to ensure that what we want in the future happens,” she commented.
A number of start-ups are presenting their projects at the show in an attempt to make contacts with large companies and exchange ideas. Start-ups are an important part of the development of the healthcare sector, and they must therefore be supported, stresses the Minister for Health: “Start-ups can help by coming up with new ideas, for example on how to work more efficiently. Personalised medicine is also what the future demands. Start-ups are the ones who dare to do new things, which is why they also need support.”
During the convention, prizes will be awarded in three categories: start-up of the year, medical project of the year, and innovative hospital management project. To enter, candidates must meet a number of criteria, explains Sylvain Vitali, General Secretary of the Luxembourg Hospital Federation: “The ideas should have been developed in the greater region and must already be partly implemented here. Companies, start-ups, hospital teams, or even entire hospitals can take part.”
The Healthcare Week runs until Friday and is open to the public. Further information is available on the Luxexpo website.
