Luxembourg continues to grapple with an outbreak of bluetongue disease, with over 1,300 animals now infected, according to the latest ALVA report.

On Tuesday, the Luxembourg Veterinary and Food Administration (ALVA) confirmed 50 new cases of the disease, detected over the past week. Laboratory tests revealed that the outbreak has now reached 14 additional farms, bringing the total number of affected farms to 488.

In total, 1,380 animals have been infected, including 1,228 cattle, 142 sheep, eight goats, and two alpacas.

Livestock owners noticing higher death rates are encouraged to report them using an official form provided by ALVA.

Vaccines remain available to combat the disease. Of the 240,000 doses ordered, approximately 96,950 have been distributed to veterinarians so far.
