Luxembourg police intervened in several cases of muggings and public disturbances between Monday afternoon and early Tuesday morning.
In Mersch, officers responded to a reported theft on Rue de la Gare on Monday afternoon. According to preliminary information, a group of individuals approached the victim under the pretext of asking for a cigarette before snatching a necklace. Police quickly located and arrested the suspects, who were presented before an examining magistrate on Tuesday morning.
Similar incidents occurred in the Gare neighbourhood in Luxembourg City. One case involved an almost identical necklace theft, though the perpetrator escaped despite police searches. Hours later, another mugging by a group of culprits in the same area resulted in the theft of both a necklace and a mobile phone.
Separately, multiple individuals were detained overnight for disruptive behaviour.
In Luxembourg City, police were called to a hospital A&E department after reports of an intoxicated person harassing patients and staff. Officers attempted to remove the individual, who refused to comply, leading to their detention following a medical evaluation.
Later that night, a brawl broke out in the Gare neighbourhood. Responding officers found heavily intoxicated individuals still at the scene, displaying aggressive behaviour. Due to the risk they posed to themselves and others, they were held in custody overnight.
