The minister confirmed that Luxembourg remains exempt to any cases of African swine fever.

So far, analyses of 280 boar cadavers have tested negative for the highly infectious and destructive disease. He also noted that the number of cases in neighbouring Belgian, which set off the alarm for Luxembourg, has continued to fall steadily and may soon reach zero in the coming months.

Nevertheless, the minister will organise a Task Force meeting before hunting season officially starts. He argued that it is clear that boar culls must continue to prevent any boars from roaming the buffer zone in the southwest of Luxembourg.

At the same time, boar populations in the rest of the country must be reduced as wild boars cause a huge amount of damage to agriculture.
