The number of marriages and civil partnerships in the capital was recently addressed by Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer in response to a respective enquiry from municipal councillor François Benoy from the Greens.
Only seven partnerships wanted procedures to take place in the ‘marriage room’. All the others occurred in a municipal office, which people chose out of personal preference, explained Mayor Polfer.
The politician from the Democratic Party further indicated there is no real demand for marriages to be made in a different room or that the municipality also carry out procedures on Saturdays.
