On Saturday morning, Meteolux issued an amber weather alert that will start at 2pm and last until 11.30pm. Violent winds, hailing from the southeast, are expected to reach speeds of 90 to 110km/hour, reaching up to 130 km/h in the night leading into Monday.

A low pressure area is forming over the North Atlantic, with gale-force winds blowing on the south side of storm "Sabine".
A cold front will also be passing through Luxembourg on Sunday night - the real extent of the impending storm is not yet known.

Drivers are reminded to adapt their driving style to the weather conditions and be extra vigilant, especially when driving through forests. Likewise, any objects that run the risk of being blown away should either be fastened to the ground or taken inside.
Luxembourg is not the only country to suffer this weekend's winds, with neighbours Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands and France all feeling their force. By Tuesday, 30l/m2 of rain are expected.
NTV news channel called the incoming wild weather a "monster" bearing down on Germany. Drivers are advised not to use the motorway and travel by train from Sunday through to Monday. In fact, if possible, travel plans should be postponed to other days.
Floods are expected on the coast, and schools might very well close. German drivers were also advised to avoid forests as trees and branches risk breaking and falling into the road.
