Casino 2000, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, announced the news earlier this week.
The €185,219 jackpot was won on the slot machines shortly after midnight on Sunday by a man hailing from the border region of Meurthe-et-Moselle. According to a statement put out by casino management, the lucky winner had been just a year away from retirement when he hit the jackpot. Naturally, this windfall meant he could accelerate his plans and enjoy his winnings with full peace of mind.
Thanks to the sum pocketed over the weekend, the jackpot winner joins the select group of the Luxembourg casino’s biggest-ever winners. However, he is still far from breaking the national record, which was set on 17 May 2007 after a 48-year-old won €1,638,299, using just five tokens worth 50 cents each at the slot machines.
Each month, Casino 2000 transfers over 17 million euros in winnings to its customers, according to management.
