The municipality of Junglinster now demands that the Bridges and Roads Authority react to the repeat incident and find a way to increase safety in the area. A potential solution would be a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights.

Despite the average speed camera on the N11, drivers still pose a threat to pedestrians in Gonderange, they say. Many locals tend to cross the respective street because of shops on the other side, and it seems like the next flyover is simply too far away.

Local LSAP politician Raymond Schintgen addressed the situation: “The responsibility lies with the Bridges and Roads Authority. It has been known for years that this specific location poses a threat to pedestrians. The minister seems willing to react, but if the Roads Authority will do the same is another question.”

Upon inquiry, officials from the Bridges and Roads Authority stated that a meeting with local representatives has already been set up, and that they will refrain from commenting until both parties had a chance to discuss the matter.
