At a parliamentary committee on Thursday, the Minister of Transport François Bausch confirmed legal advice would be sought over the matter in order to silence criticism.
Couple at the helm of Findel and Luxair is ‘not a conflict of interest’The matter concerns Felicie Weycker’s appointment as chairman of the board of directors of LuxAirport. She is also the partner of Gilles Feith, director of Luxair.
CSV MP Laurent Mosar posed questions on this subject, and beyond, for over an hour, querying the potential conflict of interest, as well as deontology and good governance. He said the top ministers sat on 4 or 5 different councils, raising the question as to whether they could adequately cope with the workload.
The CSV also queried what the officials’ responsibilities look like. Mosar said: “In the coming days and weeks we will see two legal opinions. One on the responsibility of state administrators and private companies, and the other focusing on the potential conflict of interest between LuxAirport and Luxair, in the sense there are two people in positions of high responsibility living together.”
The Pirate Party also requested a commission meeting on the subject of Cargolux, to register their displeasure at the appointment of Christiane Wickler to head up the Cargolux board, which in the party’s view was the wrong choice. The Weycker/Feith discussion led by the CSV “goes too far”, according to the Pirates’ Marc Goergen.
