An official convoy of narcotics was transported from Findel to Leudelange on Tuesday. The drugs, recently discovered and seized by customs at Findel, were transported to the waste collection and treatment site (Sidor) in Leudelange for destruction.

According to RTL sources, no fewer than 24 pallets were transported by two Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) lorries under police escort.

Officially, no one was able or willing to confirm these details. The police referred inquiries to customs, who requested that questions be submitted in writing before forwarding them to the judicial authorities. The public prosecutor’s office later confirmed that on Tuesday, “a large quantity of drugs was destroyed at Sidor”.

No information was available on New Yea’’s Eve regarding the value of the drugs or the circumstances of their seizure or confiscation. The judicial authorities did indicate that “customs, the police, the CGDIS and the Luxembourg public prosecutor’s office all participated in this operation”.

Customs regularly discovers illegal goods at Findel intended for smuggling or transit through the Grand Duchy.
