This week in Family Matters, we put the focus on great places and cool ideas to keep small people with growing minds busy in the Grand Duchy. Our spotlight was on a series of articles ranging from the great outdoors to child-friendly culinary corners, alongside the announcement of a brand new fixture for children’s learning in Luxembourg.

When they ask what Luxembourg’s famous for...

Playgrounds of course! As the seasons change and the landscape turns a brilliant shade of neon green, we at Family Matters were delighted to present Zara Castagna’s classic treatise on some of the most fantastic outdoor playgrounds in Luxembourg. We hope it serves you well, not just this week, but far into the autumn and perhaps even snow and rain boot season. But let’s not think about that now, shall we?

Meanwhile, TravelmatKanner brought us ‘Unusual discoveries in and around Luxembourg', with a selection of family-friendly expeditions that run the gamut from historical sites (Waterloo anyone?) to strawberry farms to some activities that are best described as, well, unusual (like saying hello to the world’s largest boar).

Feeding curious minds and hungry bellies

This past Sunday, the country’s first children’s museum opened its doors: Plomm (or ‘feather’ in English) is Luxembourg’s first-ever museum dedicated exclusively to children aged 0 to 12. We were excited to detail everything about Wiltz’s fabulous new entry to Luxembourg’s museum offer — including a photo gallery of what exactly you and your little ones can expect on your first visit.

And speaking of museums in the Grand Duchy: this week also saw Family Matters’ Alison Freeman showcase a curated list of family-friendly museums — along with a ‘whistle-stop tour’ of baby and kid-friendly restaurants to keep everyone fed and happy across Luxembourg.

Still have questions?

If you still have questions about kid-centric activities - or last week’s selection of articles on nurseries and childcare - and can’t find the answer in Family Matters, we would love to hear from you. We’re striving to make our guide to family life as complete as possible, and it always helps to hear from our readers. The best way to send us your question is to visit this link and fill out the form, or you can send an e-mail to contenttoday@rtl.lu.

Next up: summer camps galore!

While it certainly doesn’t feel like summer in Luxembourg just yet, the planning season for camps and other July to September activities is about to begin. We’ll start with a deep-dive into the grand tradition of ‘Aktioun Bambësch’ on 30 April, before showcasing a general guide to ‘Summer Camps in Luxembourg’ on 3 May. We’ll top off the theme with ‘Summer Camp Testimonies’, where parents will discuss local camps that made three months fly by, on 5 May.
