Last week, RTL reported that a doctor from the hospital had been suspended. According to our information, the individual in question works in the palliative care unit, but this has not been officially confirmed.
Upon request, CHEM confirmed the suspension of a medical staff member but did not provide further details.
On Monday, the prosecutor’s office revealed that a formal complaint had been received in early December. An investigating judge has been assigned to the case, and it is being thoroughly examined from all angles. The accusations range from involuntary homicide to voluntary homicide, though the prosecutor’s office emphasised that the presumption of innocence applies.
The CHEM’s press service stated last week that an internal report had been filed regarding a medical issue that may have compromised a patient’s safety and well-being.
The hospital’s official statement stated, “As a precaution, and in the interest of patient safety, management has decided to suspend the individual until further notice and to initiate internal disciplinary proceedings.”
CHEM’s management declined to comment further on the allegations, citing both the ongoing investigation and the need to respect the presumption of innocence.
The hospital has fulfilled its legal obligation by informing the prosecutor’s office about the matter.
