Drink driving and break-insIntoxicated driver caught getting behind the wheel by police

RTL Today
On Thursday afternoon, a police patrol intervened in an argument between two men in the Gare district, which later led to an arrest.

Officers separated the two individuals and asked them to leave the area. One man then attempted to climb in his car and drive off; but as police had already noticed his intoxication levels, they intervened once more. The man was made to carry out a breathalyser test and a drugs test - both of which returned positive results.

When the patrol attempted to confiscate the man’s driving licence, they were unable to do so, as the man had already surrendered his licence to police on a previous occasion. As a result, he was arrested by order of the public prosecutor’s office and brought before a judge on Friday.

The Grand Ducal police also reported several burglaries or break-ins overnight. A burglar attempted to gain access to a property on Rue des Rochers in Wiltz, but failed; while in Lamadelaine, intruders succeeded in searching a residence on Tëtelbierg, but were disturbed by the residents returning home.

Investigations have been launched into both incidents.
