"Shoe pyramid"Installation shows number of civilians affected by landmines

RTL Today
Handicap International has been organising the annual Luxembourg "shoe pyramid" since 1999.

The aim of the installation is to raise awareness for civilians affected by landmines and bombs. The 20th edition falls at a time when 90% of victims affected by bombings in Syria, Libya, and Yemen are civilians. Martin Lagneau of Handicap International explained an international political declaration is in the works to ban bombs from being dropped in residential neighbourhoods.

The pyramid of shoes is put together every year on the Place d'Armes in Luxembourg City, on the first Saturday in October.
