Fuel and fresh fruit price hikeInflation rate climbs from 0.2% to 0.7%

After four consecutive price decreases, fuel costs are on the rise again. Fresh fruits also became more expensive again.

National statistics service Statec announced earlier this Wednesday that the yearly inflation rate rose from 0.2% to 0.7% in June. Fuel prices in particular are affected by the climbing rate: they recorded a price increase of 19.6%. Drivers had to pay an additional 9% for one litre of petrol and an additional 8% for one litre of diesel.

All in all, food prices are remaining stable. Fresh fruit prices nevertheless climbed by 4.8%. Earlier this month, the consumer protection agency had stated that overall consumption rather than food prices had gone up.

Small catering services, hairdressers, and aestheticians became slightly more expensive (+2%). Internet prices on the other hand recorded a 7.7% price drop.
