The incident took place last Saturday when a motorist contacted a breakdown service after her vehicle broke down. When the recovery vehicle arrived, however, the driver refused to pay for the service. Police were subsequently called to the scene. Officers established that the driver showed clear signs of significant intoxication and was also subject to a prior conditional driving ban. On the instructions of the public prosecutor’s office, the driver was arrested and the vehicle was seized.

Drink-driving

On Sunday, a driver was reported at the junction of Route de Trèves and Rue de Senningerberg in Niederanven after consuming alcohol, hitting lampposts and coming to a stop there. A police patrol noted that the driver had consumed too much alcohol. A test confirmed this and a temporary driving ban was imposed.

Later, another intoxicated individual was reported in a café in Grevenmacher after leaving a car park in his vehicle. Shortly after setting off, he was stopped and checked by police. In this case as well, the breathalyser test was positive and a temporary driving ban was issued.

Burglary

In Cessange, an unknown individual forced open a balcony door to gain access to a flat, which was subsequently ransacked. Jewellery was stolen. A few hours later, another burglary was reported in Mersch. Entry was gained through a cellar door. Investigations have been launched in both cases.

Car break-ins

On Sunday evening, the window of a car was smashed on Montée de Pfaffenthal in Luxembourg City. Later the same evening, another vehicle break-in was reported in the Gare district. Entry was gained through a broken passenger-side window and a rucksack was stolen.
