The Esch-sur-Alzette police station was the site of an accidental gun discharge on 21 August 2024, an incident recently confirmed by Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden in response to a parliamentary question.

An incident involving a service weapon recently took place at the police station in Esch-sur-Alzette.

Minister for Home Affairs Léon Gloden already confirmed the occurrence in response to a parliamentary question, stating that a police officer accidentally discharged a firearm due to a handling error while inside the police armoury. The bullet penetrated the vault door, but no injuries were reported.

According to a statement provided to our colleagues from RTL.lu, the police confirmed that the incident occurred on 21 August 2024. They further noted that all police officers participate in regular weapons training, with field officers receiving training three times a year. Officers assigned primarily to administrative roles are required to attend such training once annually.
