According to the latest Eurobarometer survey on public opinion in Luxembourg, the two biggest concerns for the Grand Duchy’s population are housing and inflation. Climate change is considered the third-most worrying issue, while young people were observed to be most optimistic about the EU’s economic prospects.

It should be noted at this stage that the final interviews of the opinion poll were conducted nine days prior to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which means that the military conflict and its implications did not make it into the report.

Tommy Klein from TNS-Ilres looked into the results of the survey and commented that general trust levels in the EU have declined. 43% of people expressed confidence in the Union, which may be related to the individualistic pandemic management by its member states.

Nevertheless, the opinion poll also found that Luxembourgers stand behind the values that the EU represents and believe that the Grand Duchy’s interests are well-represented.
