At the end of March, it was announced that reactor three at the Cattenom Nuclear Power Plant would be switched off to check for possible corrosion.
According to several media reports, cracks have since been identified and confirmed in the conducts of the cooling system.
Even though the Luxembourg government has requested details, neither Électricité de France S.A., which operates the power plant, nor the French Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN), have published any information on the state of the reactor.
In a tweet, Greenpeace Luxembourg now demands that both Luxembourg and Germany launch an urgent investigation into the plant’s safety.
