Luxembourgish satellite operatorGovSat may only have one client, but many users

RTL Today
Any discussions surrounding how many clients Luxembourgish satellite operator GovSat has must differentiate between users and clients.

Minister of Defence François Bausch confirmed last week that GovSat only has one client, namely the Luxembourgish state. But the satelitte operator actually has many different users, with the Belgian Marines being just one example. Whilst the Belgian Marines might not have a contract with GovSat per se, this belongs to a greater package in context of Luxembourg and Belgium’s bilateral cooperation, which is updated every year.

Other users of GovSat include NATO departments. The satellite operator also plans to create direct contracts with commercial clients in addition to capacities reserved for the Luxembourgish state.

Recently, GovSat signed a contract with Norway’s ‘Airbus Space and Defence’, and has capacity available for business to meet the needs of a Baltic country involved in European defence. GovSat’s figures, expected to be positive, will be published in April. It is likely the annual report will show an improvement in GovSat’s offer of services.
