The Municipality of Bourscheid announced late on Thursday afternoon that it had received analysis results from the Water Management Agency's (AGE) laboratory indicating that the drinking water in the municipal network was of "poor bacteriological quality".
The water, it was added, therefore does not meet current standards for human consumption.
To prevent any potential risks, residents of the Municipality of Bourscheid are advised not to drink tap water directly. If they do wish to consume it, they must first boil it for two minutes.
The same precaution also applies when using the water to prepare food. Foods that are meant to be eaten raw, such as lettuce, other vegetables or fruit, must not, under any circumstances, be washed with tap water.
The statement added that the laboratory will run further analyses on drinking water quality. Working alongside the relevant municipal departments, steps are being taken to restore the quality of the drinking water in the municipality as quickly as possible.
The notice went on to say that residents will be informed as soon as the Bourscheid municipal administration receives confirmation from the laboratory that drinking water quality has returned to normal.
