In June, the average fixed rate mortgage fell for the third consecutive month, dropping to 3.79% from the 3.93% peak recorded in April.

286 million euros worth of mortgage loans were granted to buyers in June.

Unfortunately for homeowners with variable mortgage rates, the average rate has continued to go up, reaching an estimated 4.42% in June. In May, the BCL estimated the average rate to be 4.38%. This puts additional pressure on the interest paid by homeowners.

Finally, the BCL said that consumer loans of up to five years have dropped to an average interest rate of 4.81%.
