Good news for motoristsFree parking at P+R Belval to make a comeback

The installation of a new contactless system at the Park + Ride Belval is finally set to be inaugurated, after countless postponements.
Ce parking de 1.600 places est souvent loin d'être rempli, malgré son emplacement idéal à la frontière...Mais cela pourrait changer avec le retour de la gratuité pour tous les utilisateurs des transports en commun.

CFL has announced the new system will enter into force on 18 September 2023, allowing public transport users to benefit from 24 hours of free parking.

Since July 2021, users of the car park have been split into those entitled to 24 hours of free parking thanks to an old subscription, and others forced to pay high prices (a monthly subscription is €85) in order to make use of the car park. Now, this bizarre system is set to come to an end - but only for people who go on to take public transport.

New contactless system

Much like in Rodange, the Belval car park will introduce a new contactless system on 18 September, which will digitise access to the Park + Ride through a new app.
The new version of the P+R CFL application will be available for download from early September and will permit drivers to automatically access the car park thanks to new terminals which will identify the vehicle’s licence plate.

However, in order to benefit from the free parking, users will have to take the train, bus, bicycle or any other means of transport once they have parked their car. The app uses the device’s geolocation to ensure drivers have moved more than 1.5 kilometres away from the Park + Ride, in order to validate their free parking.

Réserver la gratuité durant 24h du P+R à ceux qui quittent Belval en prenant les transports en commun: ce principe va enfin refaire son retour.

Access to the P+R will therefore be free for all users of public transport and other “soft” mobility, instead of being restricted to old subscribers. The old subscription, which replaced the “Good Morning Belval” cards, is set to become obsolete, with CFL planning to phase it out until 30 September.

Bad news for drivers remaining in Belval

Cette tarification va évoluer avec l'instauration du nouveau système en septembre.

Unfortunately, car park users who remain in Belval will not only have to pay, but the daytime rate is set to increase from 18 September. Currently the car park costs €1 per hour in the daytime and €0.60 from 7pm-6am.

The new prices are as follows:
Monday to Saturday :

  • From 6am to 7pm: €0.60/30 mins.
  • From 7pm to 6 am: €0.30/30 mins.
  • Sunday and public holidays: €0.30/30 min.

The monthly subscription will still cost €85 via the P+R CFL application.

For more information, visit the ticket office at Belval-Université station during opening hours (Monday to Friday from 6.15am to 7.45pm) or contact parking.belval@cfl.lu. The P+R Belval app can be downloaded on Android and iOS.
