Police across Luxembourg received more than 100 reports of arguments, altercations, noise disturbances and other public order incidents during the night from Saturday into Sunday.

One of the more serious incidents occurred on Rue de la Poste in Luxembourg City at around 12.50am, where several people had been involved in a dispute. When police arrived, one injured person was still at the scene. The individual became increasingly aggressive and attempted to assault officers. He was subsequently restrained.

A large crowd had gathered during the police operation. Two individuals threw firecrackers towards the police, which exploded close to the officers. No one was injured and the two suspects were later stopped at Place d'Armes after attempting to flee by bicycle. A report was filed against them for resisting police.

Police were called following a dispute near Gare, at around 9.45pm on Saturday. On arrival, officers searched three suspicious men. A blank firing gun was found and seized from one of them. As the man was under the influence of alcohol and behaved confrontationally towards the officers, he was taken into custody.

Elsewhere in the country, police received reports of people setting off firecrackers and fireworks, throwing eggs at buildings, passers-by, and cars, and ringing people's doorbells. During checks in Schifflange, officers confiscated firecrackers from a group of young people.

In Belvaux, unidentified individuals threw pumpkins at a house, damaging a window in the process.
