Noémie, a 21-year-old woman, was attending the Emaischen ball on Sunday evening when her wallet accidentally fell from her bag without her noticing. At 6.16am on Monday, her family received a text from the Capellen police informing them that the wallet had been handed in at their station.

The family called the police to verify the message and were told that the wallet was indeed there, prompting them to head over straight away. Noémie’s mother explained that their priority had been to check whether all the cards were still inside, since replacing them would have been quite a hassle.

It appears the person who found the wallet took it directly to the police station after the event. However, their identity remains unknown, as Capellen police were unable to disclose who handed it in due to data protection rules.

Wanting to express their gratitude, Noémie’s family has thus launched a Facebook appeal in hopes of identifying the honest individual. They stressed how remarkable it was that everything had been returned intact and noted that such honesty should not be taken for granted.
