Authorities reported that a ventilator at Cattenom’s Unit 1 caught fire at around 8 pm on Friday evening. Fortunately, the flames were rapidly brought under control.

Given the fire’s scale, there was no effect on any further areas of the nuclear station’s security. Unit 1 continues to be in operation.

However, sirens went off in Cattenom village due to an error in procedure.
