All across the country, police patrols will be present at the Christmas markets, especially those in Luxembourg City. To be as prepared as possible, the police have shared a few simple pieces of advice so that you can better protect yourself from dishonest people.

First of all, you should be particularly attentive when in a crowd. It is recommended to keep wallets in the inner coat pocket, and to avoid letting other people see its contents. It is also generally advised to only carry the cards or the cash that you need.

Secondly, you should not leave any bags unattended, and it is best to always keep them close to your body, with the opening pointing inward, when applicable.

Lastly, officers recommend to limit the physical contact with unknown people and keep a safe distance to them (whenever possible).

These are all very ‘common sense’ pieces of advice, but it is easy to become careless when you’re having fun. So, enjoy the Christmas markets, and stay safe!
