Rescue teams in Bertrange rehearsed a major incident scenario using the latest equipment from the CGDIS.

Following recent discussions about planned expansions at the Mertert port tank facilities, attention has once again turned to the fuel depots near Bertrange.

On Thursday evening, emergency services, including police, firefighters, and other members of the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), staged a large-scale training exercise at the site. The drill was designed to prepare teams for a potential major incident at the fuel tanks.

The scenario involved a simulated accident with a tank wagon on a train, prompting a coordinated response by the various rescue teams. Organisers stressed that there was no real danger to the public and that the activity was solely a training operation.

The CGDIS deployed state-of-the-art robotic equipment to test the emergency response protocol.
