Practice runEmergency alert messages and sirens to be tested on Monday

RTL Today
On Monday, the government will once again test the country's network of warning sirens and alert messaging systems.

The practice run will however only affect a limited part of the Grand Duchy, including the cantons of Clervaux, Wiltz, and Vianden. People living in the following municipalities will thus receive a text alert on Monday: Troisvierges, Weiswampach, Wincrange, Clervaux, Hosingen, Putscheid, Vianden, Wiltz, Winseler, Kautenbach, Bavigne, Boulaide, Esch-sur-Sûre, and Goesdorf.

The message will contain the same text as was already the case in the last test run and will not require any reaction from recipients. People who have suggestions for improvement may later contact authorities via email (lu-alert@mi-etat.lu).

During the latest test run on 2 May, everybody in the Grand Duchy received an alert message, which most people got within the hour. However, technical issues were found with one telecommunications provider, which caused delays in the warning system.

In a joint statement, the Ministry of State, the Ministry for Home Affairs, and the Office of the High Commissioner for National Protection underline the necessity of testing the alert systems on regular basis.
