
The project will oversee the development and launch of three new satellites, designed to enable improved video transmission and an enhanced network in Western Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Around 118 million households in France, Germany and Western Europe will benefit from higher-quality TV. The satellites will be controlled by the Luxembourg central hub and are expected to launch in 2024.
In a statement, Kris Peeters, Vice President of the European Investment Bank, called it a “big step towards the successful launch of a new generation of satellites for the private and public sector in Western Europe and beyond,” and added that the value of the loan “shows the strategic importance of the space sector for the EIB and the European Union.”
