In its assessment of the state budget, the Court of Auditors suggested including environmental organisations in future negotiations between the social partners. This proposal was welcomed by the Ecological Movement in a statement released on Tuesday. Despite the fact that climate change affects all sectors, the environmental advocacy group claims that the “voice of civil society” is still not being heard “on traditional boards”.
The Ecological Movement also slams Minister of the Economy Franz Fayot, who stated that he is opposed to expanding the current tripartite format because negotiations with environmentalists “already take place elsewhere.” According to the Ecological Movement, neither Fayot nor Prime Minister Xavier Bettel have asked the environmental association for their opinion, and discussions are “generally rare.”
The Ecological Movement expressly states that it welcomes the debate but does not take a stance on whether the tripartite should be changed into a quadripartite.
