Luxembourg City CourtDriver who crashed lorry, killing two, sentenced to one and a half years probation and €2,000 fine

In January 2020, the man crashed into the end of a traffic jam with his lorry. Two women died in the accident.

He has been handed a prison sentence of one and a half years, however he is able to serve it on probation.

The man also has to pay damages of €100,000, as per the verdict of the civil lawsuit.

An investigation had determined that the lorry driver had exceeded the maximum driving time by 18 minutes. By doing so, he was overtired and unable to drive safely at the time of the accident.
