Five cars were involved in a collision caused by an intoxicated driver on Thursday evening, leaving four people with injuries.

The incident occurred at around 8.35pm on Thursday, near Pontpierre. Initial reports say one driver lost control of his vehicle due to intoxication, and crashed into two other cars. These cars careened into the guard rail and struck three further vehicles in the process.

Four people, including a child, were taken to hospital for treatment following the crash.

The first driver was made to carry out a breathalyser test and consequently had his licence confiscated due to the positive result.
