Robert Schuman HospitalsDirector General expresses cautious optimism despite critical situation

The situation in hospitals is still tense this weekend, according to Dr Claude Schummer, Director General of the Robert Schuman Hospitals.

Dr Schummer explained that it does seem as if figures are stabilising with a slight downward trend, showing the effectiveness of the new restrictions. The Director General of the Robert Schuman Hospitals stated that he could only encourage citizens to continue respecting the rules. The situation regarding staff shortages is also slowly improving.

The Robert Schuman Hospitals are currently treating a total of 51 Covid-19 patients, ten of whom are in intensive care. Of the 36 people who arrived this weekend at the Kirchberg emergency room, twelve were hospitalised.

Dr Schummer also praised the work carried out by general practitioners, stating that they are now well organised, which is also one of the reasons why fewer people have to be admitted to hospital.

The Robert Schuman Hospitals are currently considering putting in place an exclusive line for non-Covid patients at the Zitha clinic. This would allow doctors whose usual workplaces have been affected by Covid-19 to safely continue their work.
