The 30 m2 canvas, which has been transformed into a captivating space for artistic expression, will be unveiled at 5.30pm today.

Since its inception in March 2022, ‘LE MUR Luxembourg’ has been part of the City of Luxembourg’s initiative to celebrate urban arts and graffiti on various walls and surfaces in public spaces. Taking inspiration from the renowned ‘MUR Oberkampf’ in Paris, which has witnessed over 300 artists leaving their mark over the years, and following the success of the graffiti project at the ventilation tower in Place Guillaume II, the project promises an array of graffiti and street art styles.

The inaugural artwork, masterfully realised by talented Luxembourg artist Sumo, has set the stage for the upcoming series of artistic displays. Over the next two months, the fresco will be graced by the creative prowess of Luxembourg artist Daniel Mac Lloyd.

Lloyd’s artistic journey began at a young age, growing up with a paintbrush in hand. His fascination with colours, materials, and shapes led to a unique style of urban art characterised by vibrant compositions, intricate details, and the fusion of watercolour and photo-realistic elements. Often featuring birds or sea animals, his art carries symbolic messages with dynamic movements and a burst of energy.

This extraordinary display of urban art will be followed by ten other artists, hailing from local, regional, and international backgrounds. Each artist will leave their ephemeral mark on ‘LE MUR Luxembourg,’ reinventing the space with their distinctive artistic vision. The project promises a succession of bi-monthly painting sessions, where each artist will have one to two days to complete their creations, culminating in a grand vernissage to unveil their work to the public.

The ‘LE MUR Luxembourg’ project owes its existence to the visionary efforts of the I Love Graffiti non-profit organisation, with valuable support from the City of Luxembourg. The collaboration between these entities has brought forth a captivating platform for urban artists to express their creativity and contribute to the City’s vibrant artistic landscape.

As the fresco by Daniel Mac Lloyd will be unveiled at 5.30 pm on Friday, art enthusiasts and passersby alike will have the opportunity to witness the magic of urban art and embrace the temporary yet profound impact of the project. Over the coming months, the walls of this project will evolve, becoming a living testament to the ever-changing, dynamic world of urban art in Luxembourg City.
